Student Spotlight, Zach Preciado

Zach Preciado
What made you guys decide to jump into 3D Animation?
Our fascination with Pixar movies, and watching people create 3D animations online for the internet both played big roles in getting us into 3D animation. We were always loved to watch 3D animated movies and videos, so we wanted to start making some of our own. When we found out it is something you can just do at home, it changed our life. So, at age 11 we started making animations and have been doing so ever since.
Was there anything that surprised you about this class so far?
I'm pretty surprised about how much I've learned so far in Maya from this course. I went from knowing virtually nothing about Maya, to being able to handle it quite easily. I had expected the teaching to be a bit slow, but it's been going at a pace that I can keep up with, and learn faster with.
What do you look forward to the most in this class?
I look forward to finishing the whole course, so that I can be wholly comfortable with using Maya, just as I am with Blender currently.
How do you like the set up of the class? That it is online with live meetings and such.
It's much more accessible then having to go to a physical classroom. It's very relaxed, and easy to follow along and learn while the instructor teaches. Another big benefit of the class being online, are the class recordings. The recordings are very useful, especially if for some reason a student missed something during class.
Would you recommend this course to other students? With no 3D experience? With some Blender experience?
I would most definitely recommend this course to other students. In fact, I've already told a few people I know about the course and recommended it to them. I would recommend this course to students with no 3D experience as well, because the class moves at a pace that a student is comfortable with. I would recommend this class to students with previous Blender experience as well. If you know how to use Blender, then you have a basic understanding on how 3D animation programs work, which will make Maya a lot more understandable on how it functions.
